How to unlock BlackBerry Bold 9650 with unlock code
The unlocking procedure for the BlackBerry Bold 9650 varies depending on which firmware your Bold 9650 is operating on. The phone originally came preloaded with OS 5.0 but some of the carriers who happened to have this phone released an official OS 6.0 on this phone which runs great! First we will discuss how to unlock BlackBerry Bold 9650 on the original OS 5.0. If you’re wondering which Operating System your phone is currently running, go to Options => About or Options => Device => About Device versions. It will show you something like 6.0 Bundle or 5.0 Bundle.
Unlocking BlackBerry Bold 9650 OS 5.0
The best way to unlock the phone if you are operating on OS 5.0 is to first insert any SIM card. Go to Options => Advanced Options => SIM card => Type the letters MEPD (although you will not see the letters appear, you will see the personalization menu. Use capital letters if it does not work for you the first time). Then type MEP alt 2. You will be asked to enter in the Network unlock code. Enter in your BlackBerry Bold 9650 unlock code and press enter.
You’re not quite done yet. If you put in your GSM SIM card and want to gain access to it, there is one additional step you must take. Go to Manage Connections => Mobile Network Options. You will have to change 2 settings here. The first is to change the Network Technology to GSM/UMTS. After, you will be able to change the Network mode to 2G. Wait 30 seconds and you’ll see it connect to your wireless carrier.
