How to Unlock BlackBerry Torch 9810 – Unlocked Prior to Official Release!
Today, we stand proud to be the first company in the world to unlock BlackBerry Torch 9810! Rather than claiming our fame in mere words, we’ve been able to fortunately capture this on video. Straight above you is our YouTube video of How to unlock BlackBerry Torch 9810. As of now, we have heard that this will be released to Rogers Wireless, Bell Canada and of course AT&T. You can expect to see the BlackBerry Torch 9810 arrive in stores at the end of August. We had a chance to run a few diagnostics and tests on the BlackBerry Torch 9810 and have been able to successfully unlock it as shown in the video.
The BlackBerry Torch 9810 model we were able to unlock was locked to AT&T. We ran some tests and we were able to identify that the Mobile Equipment Personalization(MEP) is the same as that of the newer AT&T BlackBerry phones including the 9700, 9780, 9800 and even as old as the 8320. The only unlock code required for the AT&T BlackBerry Torch 9810 is the network MEP code (MEP2). You can expect some to release it with the Service Provider code (MEp4) and the rest/majority of other world carriers would release it with only one MEP2 code.
The BlackBerry itself is operating on OS 6.1 which has the same style of options menus as 6.0. This means that you can go the longer and safer route of going through Options => Device => Advanced System Settings => SIM Card => Type MEPD => Type MEP [alt] 2 => Enter your BlackBerry Torch 9810 unlock code. In this video, we took the shortest possible route by inserting an unaccepted SIM card (one that is not AT&T) and selected ‘yes’ to the prompt ‘The phone requires an unlock code. Do you want to unlock your phone”. We always recommend the longer and safer route to make sure that the Network does turn into Disabled or Inactive and to ensure that you do not exhaust your attempts to unlock your BlackBerry.
Enjoy the video above and feel free to shoot us any questions or comments about unlocking the Torch 9810!
EDIT:
The only method to unlock this phone is to insert an unaccepted SIM card and to enter the unlock code when prompted to do so. The same applies for the Bold 9900 and we can only imagine the rest of the BlackBerry phones to come.
